Former MTV Producer/Senior Vice President Bob Kusbit
On February 20, 2004, Pitt in Hollywood brought in MTV producer (and former Senior Vice
President), Bob Kusbit. He's responsible for about 75% of MTV's programming, such
as Total Request Live, Spring Break, Unplugged, and Say What Karaoke, to name a
few. A communications major, Kusbit graduated from Clarion University (located
about two hours from Pittsburgh) in 1983. He served his time at the college's TV
station and interned with Pittsburgh's KDKA-TV. Kusbit went on to produce for
several other TV stations in Ohio and Pennsylvania, as well as the 6 o'clock news
for Pittsburgh's WTAE. After moving to New York City, Kusbit produced shows at
Fox and NBC, then became head of MoPo Production Co, which makes shows for NBC,
Fox, and Paramount. In 1996, MTV gave Kusbit the mission of transforming MTV from
a lineup of mostly music into a livelier mix of cool shows. Kusbit even hired
Carson Daily for his first TV job! Bob Kusbit apparently likes to get back to his
roots - he gave the commencement speech for Clarion's graduating class in 2002.
