Dear Mr. Wirtschafter,

My name is Michael Darling. I'm currently a sophomore at the University of Pittsburgh majoring in English Writing and Film Studies. Last semester, a group of students led by Film Studies professor Carl Kurlander (St. Elmo's Fire) started an organization called Pitt Film. Our goal is to establish a pipeline between Pittsburgh and Los Angeles in order to help ease the transition between the two cities for aspiring writers and actors, while providing useful advice via interviews with experienced artists which, with their permission, will be posted on our website.

As one of the only aspiring screenwriters in the organization, I have taken responsibility for the screenwriting committee. Thus, I'd like to use this opportunity to request an interview with one of your clients, Mr. William Goldman.

I realize that Mr. Goldman's time is precious, and that he is presently at work adapting a novel for Steven King. I request no more than ten or fifteen minutes of his time to ask him a few specific questions about the craft. I have read both of his novels detailing his adventures in the screen trade, and they are a constant source of inspiration for me.

I have not yet completed a screenplay, and will not ask Mr.Goldman to pitch any of my ideas. I promise not to ask him for any assistance in finding an agent, and I certainly will not ask him to help me write anything. I am here only for guidance and advice on behalf of Pitt Film.

Mr. Goldman has earned his rightful place amongst Hollywood's elite through hard work and determination, traits that Pittsburgh natives have held in high esteem for centuries. Clearly, he is a role model to our organization.
